April Newsletter

Hello,

I hope your April is blooming beautifully.

Spring is well and truly here; nature is awakening, the days are stretching, and everything feels just a little more alive. This season, often called the seasonal new year, invites us to emerge from the restful stillness of winter and step into action.

It’s the perfect time to set intentions, or sankalpas, as we say in yoga. A sankalpa is like a seed planted deep within: a heartfelt intention that might reflect something you wish to welcome in, let go of, or move towards. With care and attention, through aligned actions, small shifts, and presence, it begins to grow and take root.

New Classes

Why join my Monday night Overstrand class?

Ah my first blog… I wasn’t really sure what to write! But I thought I’d share a little more about my Monday night yoga class in Overstrand.

I’ve been teaching at Overstrand Parish Hall since September 2024. It’s a lovely little hall, tucked down The Londs where there are sweet flint cottages, and in daylight you can see the sea at the end of the road.

I’ve been welcomed by the locals of Overstrand, and have some wonderful regulars, who really mean so much to me, as a few have been coming to my class since the start of my teaching journey!

My Monday class is suitable for all levels, taking a slower Hatha approach, holding asana for a few breaths, and sometimes adding some vinyasa style elements too where we work with body and breath. I have blocks and straps on hands, and keep the flows we follow fairly simple. Each week is a new theme, whether focusing on a particular chakra, or an element of the 8 Limbs Of Yoga.

I always start my class with a short check in, where I invite the people to close down their eyes, bring awareness inward and to their breath, which is a great way to feel centred before going through movement. We then will move through some sequences, warming up the body ready ready for some slightly stronger asana. Sometimes near the end of the class, I’ll add little workshop for a more challenging pose, or a particular movement.

At the end while in savasana, I’ll guide everyone through a visual meditation, which links to the theme of the practise, leaving everyone relaxed and settled.

Anyone is welcome to join and come and have a go! I’d love to see you there. Your first class is £5, and you can just turn up. I’d recommend bringing comfy clothing, some water, maybe a blanket too if you want to get cosy for savasana, and of course a yoga mat.
